It is important to know who you are dealing with when you take a cherished instrument to be repaired. Cathy Currier graduated in 1977 with honors from Western Iowa Tech with a technical degree in Band Instrument Repair. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and her Associate's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Wood Technology. Cathy is also a member of the Guild of American Luthiers and the Association of String Instrument Artisans.
Over the years Cathy has learned instrument repair and building from the finest craftspeople in the business. In 1987 Cathy spent the summer working for Taylor Guitars and had the opportunity to build her own guitar. This experience was key to helping her become a more skilled guitar technician. In 1989 Cathy studied mandolin building with John Monteleone in Long Island, New York, where she crafted a carved, A-style mandolin. In 2007, she participated in an exhibition and celebration of Kentucky luthiers and their work entitled, "Made to be Played: Traditional Art of Kentucky Luthiers."
